How do you choose your Vox neighbors and friends?
Submitted by gcgal.
i'd rather have 10 people that i communicate regularly with than 1,000 neighbors that i barely know.
*i have occasionally removed people from my neighborhood because of this. great people & we communicate here & there... but the reason of removal was their vox when added was interesting to me & then they changed** to - for example - nothing but twitter posts. or all song lyrics. or all poetry.
**or i didn't have the time to read more than the first page to see what their vox was really about
it was too good to be true. my relief came in this morning & asked me if i talked to yasmeenah (the other auditor). i said no & asked why - having the feeling it had to do with the schedule. i was right. she wants to have sundays off - or rather her husband doesn't want her to work sundays. at all. like, not even after midnight. *rolls eyes* so, i will be working saturdays, sundays, mondays & tuesdays after this weekend. the last place i was at i had wednesday, thursday & friday nights off. i was able to deal with working saturday nights without too much grief. but i don't think i'm going to be able to handle it very well much longer. word must be spreading about us not taking cash deposits from cash paying guests. even though we've only been open about a month every weekend it seems we get more & more locals. i'm going to give it a few weeks & see, but i don't know. i might have to start job hunting again like i was planning on doing before i was given the weekends off. i thought about maybe trying to work at a bank. i'd be off by like 6pm. i would have to work fridays & saturdays but that's fine. at least the customers wouldn't be drunk assholes. if they are i'd call the manager - since i wouldn't be working alone - & let him/her deal with them.
better late than never right?
the second one is true of me. it's not my secret - i still haven't mailed mine in yet...been too busy. but i have lost me somewhere along the way. being around my old friend chrissy again is making me see that. i've changed so much & it's not always for the better. almost everything about me has changed & i'm not very happy with who i am. the more i'm around her the more i see & remember & think of things i used to love, want to do, dream of doing. i'd forgotten. i was fun, happy, easy going, loved life & people. i'm not really like that anymore. i need to be around her more. i need to find myself again. i will find myself again.
Although we typically post on Team Vox to let you know about things that are going on with Vox (to, uh, state the obvious), once in a while, we like to let you know about other cool things that are happening around the blogosphere. And we think the idea of four hilarious mommy bloggers traveling across the U.S. on their way to the BlogHer '08 conference - all the while blogging and video blogging the journey - is one trip you will not want to miss.
Four adventurous bloggers from the Silicon Valley Moms Group were selected to participate in the Summer Road Trip '08 and blog about their travels, hotel stays, media appearances, time away from their families, and life on the road. Six Apart helped them partner up with General Motors, who provided the blogging mommies with a Chevy Tahoe Hybrid SUV to help make their journey comfy, safe, and a little more green.
In case you're not familiar with them, SV Moms is a group of over 200 bloggers who showcase the ups, downs, outrages, struggles, victories, and everyday humor of motherhood. There are currently nine regional and demographically tailored sites that give mothers from D.C., New Jersey, the Deep South, Rocky Mountains, L.A., and Silicon Valley a powerful voice and sense of camaraderie across the country. Whether you're a mother, a child, or just a person who enjoys a good blog, you'll really love reading the words of these amazing women.
The moms buckled into their Chevy Tahoe Hybrid SUV on July 11th and even got an encouraging message from Katie Couric to kick things off! They are currently somewhere in the middle of America making their way to San Francisco where they'll attend an SV Moms Group Party, as well as BlogHer '08.
You do not want to miss these entertaining and irreverent bloggers -- or their spontaneous contest giveaways! -- as they blog from the road. Experience the journey at MomRoadTrip.com.
And let us know about your summer road trip - or plane/boat/bus trip - in the comments! (I like to live vicariously.)
What was the best thing about your weekend?

Are you going to be amongst the first people to buy the iPhone 3G? If so, when do you plan on picking yours up and which one will you be purchasing?

i had taken a sleeping pill to make sure i could sleep. i woke up b/c i thought i heard skot & candace leaving for work/school. & i freaked out thinking i overslept. thankfully i only do that about once a year. LOL i hate when i do that.
